This page is a quick way to find out what to do if you need to miss more than one or two days. Simple find the days you missed and follow the instruction for each day you miss. Aug. 28: Finish the Creative Name assignment started in class last time. (Create a work of art that contained your name and visual images that show your personality.) This assignment should take about 1 hour to complete.
Sept. 1: Go to the "PowerPoints" on the drop-down menu for art foundations. Find the Intro to Line PowerPoint, pull it up and watch it.
Sept 3: Go to the "PowerPoints" on the drop-down menu for art foundations. Find the one that says "sketch book cover - extreme doodles". Open that PowerPoint and go through all the slides. Then, begin designing the cover to your sketch book.
Sept 8: Work on sketch book cover.
Sept 10: Finish sketch book cover.
Sept 14: Go to the "PowerPoints" on the drop-down menu for art foundations. Find the one that says "Doodle Portraits". Open that PowerPoint and go through all the slides. Then, take or find a photo of a face you could use for this assignment.
Sept 16 & 18: Work on your own "Doodle Portrait" (as explained in the Power Point you watched on Sept 14th).
Sept 22: Go to the "PowerPoints" on the drop-down menu for art foundations. Find the one that says "Drawing Unit 2 Light". Open that PowerPoint and go through all the slides. Then, draw a circle in your sketch book and shade it so it looks like a sphere (3 dimensional). Make sure you have highlights, middle tones, shadows, reflections and a cast shadow (see the PowerPoint for an example).
Sept 24: Draw and shade a cylinder, cone and a cube in your sketch book. See example below:
Sept 28: Go to "examples/YouTube" on the drop-down menu for Art Foundations. Find the clip "How I Draw Realistic Drops of Water" and "How to Draw a Water Drop Step-by-Step." Watch the clips and take notes. Take a picture of your notes and e-mail them to me or give them to me when you return.
Sept 30: Try drawing some water drops in your sketchbook (see the tutorial watched on Sept 28). Spend at least 15 min. drawing and shading your water drops.
Oct 2 & 6: Go to "examples/YouTube" on the drop-down menu for Art Foundations. Find the clip "Scratchboard Cat Live Lesson". Watch the clip and take notes. Take a picture of your notes and e-mail them to me or give them to me when you return.
Oct 8: Go to "examples/YouTube" on the drop-down menu for Art Foundations. Find the clip "Art Professors Demo Scratchboard Drawing". Watch the clip and take notes. Take a picture of your notes and e-mail them to me or give them to me when you return.
Oct 12: Go to "examples/YouTube" on the drop-down menu for Art Foundations. Find the clip "Paul Hopman Scratchboard Artist". Watch the clip and take notes. Take a picture of your notes and e-mail them to me or give them to me when you return.
Oct 14: Go to "Sketch Book Prompts" on the drop down menu for your class. Then, watch "5 ways to fill your sketch books" and take notes. Take a picture of your notes and e-mail them to me or give them to me when you return.
Oct 20 -28: Draw for 30 min. in your sketch book. If you need help thinking of things to draw, go to "Sketch Book Prompts" on the drop down menu for your class.
Nov 2 -4: Go to "PowerPoints" on the drop-down menu for your class. Find the one that is called "discover an interesting artist". Watch the PowerPoint, pick an artist and do the assignment (research your artist and create a PowerPoint or Google Presentation about your artist). Make sure you meet all the criteria listed in the PowerPoint. When you are finished with your presentation, share it with me at: sarah.shuler@nebo.edu.
Nov 6 - 20: Go to "examples/YouTube" on the drop-down menu for Art Foundations. Find the clip "Watercolor Painting for beginners". Watch the clip. Gather your supplies: watercolors (a cheap," kid" set will do - most grocery stores sell these), some heavy paper (preferably water color paper), brushes, cup of water and some paper towels. If you need some supplies, email me at: sarah.shuler@nebo.edu and I will make sure you get some supplies. Now, do your own watercolor silhouette. You can watch the video again and pause to do your painting as you go. This will probably take 1 - 2 hours to accomplish so get started as soon as possible.
Nov 24 - Dec 17: Go to "PowerPoints" on the drop-down menu for your class. Find the one that is called "Illustrate Words to Live By". Watch the PowerPoint, and do the assignment it explains. Make sure you meet all the criteria listed in the PowerPoint. When you are finished with your artwork you can email me a picture (sarah.shuler@nebo.edu) or turn it in when you return. If you need supplies (watercolors, brushes Sharpie or felt tip pen and watercolor or heavy paper) to do this assignment PLEASE EMAIL ME ASAP and I will find a way to get some to you!
January 3: Go to "examples/YouTube" on the drop-down menu for Art Foundations. Find the clip "Basic Colored Pencil Techniques: Layering " Watch the clips and take notes. Take a picture of your notes and e-mail them to me or give them to me when you return.
January 5 & 7: Go to "examples/YouTube" on the drop-down menu for Art Foundations. Find the clip "Six Steps to Better Colored Pencil Work" Watch the clip and take notes. Take a picture of your notes and e-mail them to me or give them to me when you return.
January 8 - 14: Draw in your sketch book (or on any paper) for 1 hour. If you need ideas go to the drop-down menu for your class under "sketch book prompts". Email me the photos of your sketches when you are finished.
